Weekend Wear {and how to love your husband}

I know it’s the weekend. {And, yes, I’m readying myself for the hatemail response to what will probably be a grossly unpopular stand…}

But just a thought:

We get all dressed-up and made-up to go to work or to meet girlfriends or to go to church or to visit the kids’ schools…

We tell those people that they are important enough to put in a little effort.

But when we’re home & around our husbands the most, we look like this?

Ew. Not cool.

I know it’s tough [read: impossible] to look like you did on your wedding day ten+ years & three kids later…

…but let’s remember that God wired our husbands to be visual creatures.

And really, ladies, we can do a little better for our husbands–we can give them a better visual to carry through the day–than sweatpants and bathrobes, can’t we? 😉

  1. I agree with you my sister. Everyday may not be a suit or a dress, but I do want Gregg to look forward to seeing me, not be wondering what he’ll see today-yikes. Thanks for the post!!

  2. Totally agree!! I teach this to the women & girls I pamper with facials & makeovers. SO VERY important to make the effort for him. That’s really what it’s all about…the effort. I don’t like the term ‘arm-candy’, but we need to be that when our men take us out. We are ab reflection of him & his success to other men. We should not primp for those other men, but ONLY for our mate!! :~) BTW…I’ve got a few scary ‘before’ shots too. I commend your bravery in posting! Hah!

  3. Georgina,
    My precious grandmother used to say, “make sure you get up every morning 30 minutes before your husband…..brush your teeth, comb your hair, and put on your lipstick, because how you look when he leaves is how he’ll remember you all day.” Well, I’ve never lived by that, and Lord knows a comb hasn’t been through this hair in years, but I so loved her spirit and yours! You’re truly one-of-a-kind and I’m glad to call you a friend!

  4. Every day in Africa a gazelle wakes up.
    It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
    Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows that it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle.
    When the sun comes up, you better be running.
