Dear Makeup {just thank you}

Dear Makeup, I just wanted to say thank you.

Not only do you take me from looking like a cadaverous wretch to …well, to something slightly less cadaverous & wretched… but as you transform me, you also remind me of an important principle:

Just as a few minutes applying makeup each day can change the outer appearance I present, a few minutes in God’s Word and prayer each day can change the inner reality I experience and project.

And if I should think that what I load into my mind and heart do not affect the words I speak and the thoughts I think…

…well, I’m just deluding myself.

It’s as clear to the people I meet as whether or not I’ve put on my makeup.

For out of the overflow of [her] heart [her] mouth speaks.” (Luke 6:45b).

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2a).

A joyful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22a).

Praying you have a joyful heart today, friends, one that is made whole by God’s love and overflowing with His Word.

So, won’t you take a little time with me this week for reading God’s Word, spending at least as much time in spiritual application as we do makeup application?

  1. I just love your openness and transparency. It’s truly refreshing in this world where we are so tempted to make everyone belive that we have our “makeup” on all the time. 😉

  3. You are hilarious & someone I can tell who is totally fun to be around! This kinda goes along with one of my posts today. Ways a woman could be loved by a man dating back to 1954. One of them was that beauty of the heart & mind will keep a man with you. So true
    because God’s word is what gives us that genuine beauty of heart, mind, & soul. ((Hugs)) Ivy Jane

  4. Great post, loved it! Thanks for sharing and giving me a timely reminder that God can use me to reach the lost EVERY day, especially when I least expect it (and not just when I feel prepared with all my ‘makeup’ on!) It’s so important for us to fill up on our oil daily so we are in the best position for Him to work in us & through us. Great blog – so wonderful to see someone using the blogosphere for positive influence 🙂
