Fabric De-Stash {is it too early for spring cleaning?}

Well, I had the best intentions of whipping up some sewing loveliness for today’s post.

I saw these cute dresses on Zulily the other day, but they were like $30 each (um, no.). They look like pretty simple shapes and designs, so I’m pretty confident I can pull a few pieces off for a lot less. I pinned them to my “let’s sew” board with the intention of whipping up a few pieces.

Now for me, fabric shopping can be one of the most fun & frustrating things. There are so many gawh-geous fabrics out there… but OUCH a lot of them are not cheap. I managed to get a few yards and half yards of some fabrics I lurved (at 50% – 70% off clearance or with a 20% off coupon). So now–joining those with fabrics from my stash–I’m ready to make something great.

fabric destash

Well, I mean… ALMOST ready to make something great… first I followed the impulse to destash my fabric scraps. Oof. What a mess. But I’m super excited because, as it turns out, I have a few friends whose daughters are just getting going on their own sewing machines! So they are each going to get a little bundle of goodness from me! Wheee!

[And on a side note…]

At Sissy’s bedtime, I also stripped down her favorite babydoll on the pretense of washing it. But really I just do not like the outfit and have been meaning to make her a new one for some time. Now she will have something that coordinates with Sis! …Umm, eventually.

Oh my gracious, there are so many projects in my head right now, it is just about to BURST. I am so looking forward to what’s coming up! Wheeeeeeee!
