Happy Tuesday, friends!
Here’s a little creative inspiration for you today. It’s fast, simple, and practically free (win, win, and win!).
All you need is a piece of heavy cardstock or cardboard, a pair of scissors, and a ruler or tape measure.
I folded the paper in half both ways, just creasing the center, to find my center point from which to measure. If you are going to paint, say, an 8″ by 10″ canvas, you will want an opening that is in scale with that (2″ x 2.5″ here in my case). I used a 25% scale, but can make the scale smaller or bigger to fit well inside your homemade “viewfinder.” If you are going to take a 3 x 5 photo, frame it out with a 1.5″ x 2.5″ window, etc.
Once your window is measured, simply cut it out, and you’re ready to play. You will have better luck with a box cutter rather than scissors if you are using cardboard.
There’s something sort of calming and amazing about blocking out all the periphery clutter and honing in on an image, non?
So, what will you be framing up with your homemade viewfinder? Your child’s hand? A stack of dirty dishes?
