I have pretty much used my dishwasher every single day or two for the past five years. If you told me there was something new to learn about my dishwasher, I’d probably scoff.
But then I was shocked to notice just the other day that the top drawer of my dishwasher is deeper on the right side than the left. Who knew? I couldn’t believe I’d never noticed it before.
And I got to thinking: sometimes I let the bible be like that in my life. I might be in the Word all the time, maybe even just too familiar when–right out of nowhere–a passage I’ve read a hundred times speaks something new straight to me. It is fresh and reveals a truth I’d never noticed before!
Hebrews 4:12 says that “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
So, won’t you read your bible along with me this week? Maybe God has a fresh word for you, one you’ve never noticed or thought about before?
Here’s a great reading plan from my church if you’re struggling with where to start…
