Get Your Whole Life Sorted {before school starts}, Part 1

I’ve been feeling that sort of low-level stress creep in as we are in the final countdown to a new school year. My days are already filling up with meetings and to-do’s. I felt a spike in my stress-o-meter this morning as my hubs rattled off three more things to add to my “top priority” to-do list for the day. As I looked around a house seemingly full of half-done and in-progress and needs-attention projects, I crumbled a little inside. Oh yeah, and we’re potty training. I walked by the eight bright green pool noodles in my dining room (don’t ask, just don’t), the sink full of dishes, the bags of school supplies adding to the clutter to look at the calendar. I steeled my nerves.

When Li’l Bro accidentally dumped apple juice all over the kitchen counter, you know, the same counter that had an iPad and a file and a couple of unopened cards on it, I almost snapped like a twig. Bless his sweet heart, he was just trying to be a helper and put the top on his own straw cup. And speaking of my kids, is it me or are all three of them talking at a higher rate, pitch, and volume today?

*sigh*

We all have those days, even if “those days” only last a few minutes or hours.

So before I launch into how we’ve been getting every single little thing sorted out around here before school starts, I want to just share one thing today, as a sort of preface. [I’m sharing it with me as much as with you.] I hope it can be the anthem that sets the tone for this final countdown to another incredible school year… 🙂

{do not be anxious

              about anything}

            but

       in every situation,

   by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving,

       present your requests to God.

And the peace of God

(which transcends all understanding)

will guard your hearts

and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  2. I know this might be completely wrong, but it brings me so much comfort that you are going through this. Not because I would want anyone to suffer, but to know I am not the only one going through this. Life can be stressful and it is good to be reminded of Where to turn and we need to remember to give thanks.
