When you think “headboard,” you probably envision something made of wood, perhaps with fabric, some nailheads… Even if you think “metal,” it’s probably of the brassy daybed variety…
But, well, you know, when it comes from the same friend who brought us her brilliant & bright yellow pallet coffee table last year, you should not be too surprised at her choice for bedroom decor.
And when it is at home right next to a blanket keeper which used to be a much deeper TV cabinet…
…until her hubs got at it with a saw and sliced the whole back half off to make it the right depth for the purpose and space…
…And when it sits next to a DIY painted green bedside table…
IT’S GOT TO BE ABLE TO HOLD ITS OWN.
[Which this piece totally does.]
Can you guess what it is? Y’all. Nothng says “headboard” quite like a metal utility trailer cover, am I right?
My friend Beth and her hubs were at a local place called Scroungers Paradise when they spotted it and its potential. They paid $40 for what the owner didn’t realize was worth a lot more, whether as a trailer cover… or as a piece of furniture!
The finish is in mint condition, no scratches or dinks to be found. So my brilliant friend just drilled two holes near the top of it and threaded through two eye bolts. Then they hung this mammoth piece right on the wall using rope strung between the two bolt eyes.
Its deep green color and metal car body finish add a unique textural layer to this energetic space.
And for me, it’s a perfect marriage of art meets practicality & function.
Well done, my brilliant friend Beth!!
