Well, another season of basketball is upon us! So of COURSE I needed to whip up a little cheer gear for my girl!
The boys’ uniform colors this year are navy, white, and Carolina blue. So I made a little cheer outfit (uniform?) for Sis in navy and white and pom-poms in navy, white, and blue. [My pleated skirt tute can be found here. And the bodice is a simple construction, a variation of which you might remember seeing on this dress, or these clothes, or this knot top, etc.–tutorial will go up next week!]
The poms are felt and SO simple to make, no sewing necessary! This round, I used 13 white, 7 navy, and 6 blue strips, each cut to about 1″ x 13″.
[Update: here’s the newly updated tutorial on these poms.]
The dress is a simple button-back closure for easy slipping on and off.
And it has just a bit of top stitching to make it more polished, but really it was a pretty fast piece, made knowing she might wear it for a few games this season and then never again.
But I think my favorite part is definitely the pleating. A love a good peek-a-boo pleat!
There you have it, so look for us at the games, wheeeee!
